Montgomery Medical Associates, PC is pleased to offer Telemedicine for your Primary Care needs. It is a video appointment that takes place in real time interaction between you and your primary care provider. It allows you to receive quality healthcare from the comfort of your home.

These are just a few examples of the advantages of Telemedicine:

  • When you are too sick/weak to come to the doctor's office

  • Reduce the time you need to take off from work

  • No need to arrange alternative care for your children

What is Telemedicine?

​

Telemedicine is considered a regular healthcare service (face-to-face consultation). It is real-time health care that uses the modern technology to allow your healthcare provider to evaluate, diagnose and treat you at a distance. It can be delivered using video-conferencing, mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers with a camera, microphone, and speakers. Although, Telemedicine is a good alternative to certain office visits, certain types of illnesses medical issues require face-to-face physical assessment and it can not be diagnosed through Telemedicine.

Telemedicine can be used for certain non-emergency care (In case of emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room).

 

  • Routine follow ups

  • Medication adjustments

  • Rashes

  • Small wounds and cuts

  • Pink eye

  • Colds & flu

  • Vomiting and nausea

  • Diarrhea or constipation

  • Also be used to review lab test results and more...

Note:

  • New Patients are required to establish care and initial regular office visit with our practice before requesting Telemedicine service.                         

  • If your health insurance plan has a co-payment, coinsurance and deductible for Regular Office Visits; then, the same co-payment, coinsurance and deductible amounts will apply to your Telemedicine visits.

Does my insurance plan cover Telemedicine visits?

​

Most of the larger commercial insurance companies (BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, United HealthCare, etc.) do cover Telemedicine visits. However, it will depend on each patient's plan type and if you are in a state with Parity Law (most states do require insurance companies to treat a Telemedicine visit the same as a regular office visit). We recommend that our patients contact their healthcare insurance companies and making sure that Telemedicine visits are covered under their health plan before scheduling an appointment.

Medicare Part B only covers Telemedicine service under certain circumstances, depending on the type of medical service (whenever a consultation is medically necessary) and the location of the facility where the patient is. Medicare won't pay for the physician's time or service if patient is in his/her home, even if patient is home-bound. The Telemedicine service must be held at designated originating site such as;

  • Rural health clinic

  • Office of physicians/practitioners

  • Skilled nursing facility

  • Inpatient hospital

  • Hospital-based Renal Dialysis Facilities

Just like other healthcare insurances, Medicare does not cover everything, deductibles, co-pays and coinsurance are the responsibility of the patient  (If Medicare member is enrolled in a Medigap health insurance, his/her supplement may pay its share).


Medicaid covers certain Telemedicine services for their members; however, like with Medicare there are some basic guidelines and restrictions that you will need to follow, depending on your state of residence (you should check with your state's Medicaid office).
